My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Chicago, IL, USA
Bear Necessities is an outstanding charitable organization that provides valuable resources to children afflicted with pediatric cancer and their families while raising much needed funds and awareness for cancer research. For the past 5-6 years as a volunteer, auxiliary board member and serving on the development committee, I have been fortunate enough to witness firsthand the incredible work done by the foundation. While raising funds and awareness is critical to accomplishing the mission of eradicating pediatric cancer, BNPCF also realizes how important it is to be there for the children and their families. Whether it is through the fantastic Small Miracle program or simply being there as a friend to listen, the exceptional staff and volunteers of Bear Necessities provide a ray of hope for those in need. The multi-faceted approach of being there for the children and their families while providing funding for cancer research truly sets Bear Necessities apart as a truly unique organization that works tirelessly day after day working towards fulfilling its mission.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being able to be a part of an organization that truly cares and is making a difference in our communities.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
all top-notch and a real delight to work with. All have come from various walks of life to band together to assist the foundation work toward its mission.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
expand programs to reach more children around the country. In a time where health card funding cuts have caused a shortage of programs around the U.S., BNPCF could have a greater impact.
Ways to make it better...
i had more time to assist the foundation and its staff.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
receiving additional funding needed to expand programs, as well as increased awareness of the outstanding work done every day.
One thing I'd also say is that...
this organization needs more support. All of us have been touched in one form or another by cancer. This organization in on the front line trying to do something about that.
