Ceres Community Project
June 21, 2010
Not only does Ceres enable the recipients of the week's food to gain a local, organic, and prepared meal, but they also get a visit once a week from "delivery angels" who spend time with them and gauge how they are doing. As a teenage chef, I personally benefitted from the direction of great and often professional chefs who guided me and taught me how to cut properly and how to cook ingredients I had never dealt with. Beyond this, they also showed an intimate knowledge of what type of food is necessary for someone with cancer or other serious illnesses. They know how large to cut something, the desired consistency, and they make sure the food looks appetizing by insisting on a beutiful presentation of the food. Ceres is beneficial not only to the clients but also to the volunteers.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The thank you cards read at each day of cooking. The testimony of two Ceres clients at Ceres' benefits. The hugs I've received when a client or former client hugged me for my work in the kitchen.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
