My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Share Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer, Inc., New York, NY, USA
I am a two-time survivor of breast cancer. The first was in 1997 when I was diagnosed with invasive, aggressive DCIS. My surgeon is on the Board of SHARE, and I picked up a leaflet in her office. I had important decisions to make, and was completely overwhelmed. The hot line volunteers were wonderful support, and referred me to resources. Also the educational seminars helped keep me informed about the disease and the treatment options. At the time SHARE also had many wellness programs like yoga, meditation, reiki, support groups, etc. All of their services are free, and available in outer boroughs as well. Most of the staff consists of dedicated volunteers, almost all of whom are breast or ovarian cancer survivors. They have to be commended for the excellent service they provide with very limited resources.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
They are always there for me.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Very caring and giving
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Be involved in more wellness programs and seminars
Ways to make it better...
Cannot think of anything
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Lack of funding
One thing I'd also say is that...
I hope they are able to continue forever, or until there is a cure for breast and ovarian cancer.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
