Share Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer, Inc.
June 15, 2010

I was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer three years ago. Somehow in all my frenzy I was recommended to Share and to Roberta Hufnagel who ran a group for women with stage-four breast cancer. I went to the in person group she ran once because it is hard for me to get into New York City by train and then Share started a call in phone group specifically for women in my categorary. Since then I have called in every Monday at 4:00 pm almost all the time. I have missed very few sessions. During this time we speak about our own experiences, discuss medications we are on and how we are feeling emotionally. It is really a wonderful outlet for our feelings. The leader, Roberta Hufnagel, is very knowledgeable as well as very supportive. I look forward every week to my group but of course find it very hard when one of the members gets sicker or dies. In my case I have been doing well but now my markers are on the rise and the group has been there to support me. I hope that I can continue to be healthy and that I will have the services of this group to help me through the rough spots and that I will be able to help someone else too. Share is a wonderful organization helping people the best they can.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the group phone calls that I take part in every week.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them enough money to accomplish every goal they set out to without making them have to worry about money.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being in touch with other women who have the same problem that I do.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind, knowledgeable and understanding.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Reach out and help more women suffering with cancer.

Ways to make it better...

they had a more convenient chapter in Brooklyn, NY.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the lack of funding and the lack of advertising so that women know where to go for help.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
