Ceres Community Project
June 15, 2010
I am a volunteer "adult chef" in the Ceres Community Project kitchen. Teenagers give their time in the service of others, learn kitchen skills and healthy cooking and eating habits. They practice team work. They learn the importance of a job well done, including a floor well swept! And they do it all in the service of members in our community who are sick or recovering from cancer and other serious diseases. This project brings teens, farmers, gardeners, delivery angels and chefs together to support those who really need fresh and nutrient rich foods. It enriches and saves lives. It educates. It creates community. It is a honor to be a part of.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
a friend of mine was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He and his wife received meals while he underwent tests, treatments, trips to the Vet's hospital 60 miles away. He and his wife were very grateful for the food and support from Ceres.
