Review for SENIOR ADVOCATE CENTER CHARTERED, STERLING, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Just the other day a client showed me her sales receipt after using coupons in her grocery shopping trips, like we taught her. She was able to purchase groceries and paper items totaling $332.81 and after using coupons she had an out of pocket expense of only $22.21! Isn't that great! We have many individuals and families wo come to receive food fromour food pantry as they are food insecure, which is a technicalnamefor being hungry/without food. Many DO NOT receive ANY governemnt assistance (food stamps/LINK). We decided to offer budget counseling with coupons if there was an interest. This was NOT a requirement to receive food. Our organization is supported by donations. We do not ask for gov't funds, as with those come gov't rules which would limit who we could help. For instance,if someone was three dollars ($3.00) over gov't guidelines, we don't care... we can still assist them. We have no guidelines. If you need help, we turn no one away.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing our clients lift themselves from their environment or at least be able to become more self relient due to our programs & counseling services. I think the very best thing I can say is we turn no one away. We have no fees. We do not judge anyone,

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all dedicated, friendly and non-judgmental. They are well trained in I & R and truly care abt all clients. Our director says,"the truly needy never receive, and we want to change that".

Whiteside County Crimestoppers, Sterling, Illinois was organized in December 1981. I was elected to the Board of Directors in 1987 and elected President in 1992. We are a 501 (c) 3 NFP public charity. All donations are tax deductable. You are invited to view our web page, which also has links to other possible crime prevention sites. These and other detailed stats are available on our website www.whitesidecountycrimestoppers.com Our dedicated coordinator Ron Potthoff has been with us since inception. WCC meets monthly to discuss rewards. In July 2010 we will have a matching funds (from MWA) fundraiser: A Country Music Show from Branson, Missouri held at the Sterling Colisium at 7 PM on Saturday, July 24. We also partner with other organizations and projects in an endeavor to educate the public in crime prevention. As you can see from our stats WCC is effective.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing 'the bad guys' get arrested & convicted through'tips'secured thru our organization;seeing the victims receive some justice thru returned property and/or guilty plea. The creative fundraising endeavors that have resulted in a safer community for all!
