DOMESTIC ABUSE INTERVENTION SERVICES
May 17, 2010

This is an organization that does terrific work day in and day out, but is stressed from too much demand for its services. It is a place of safety, comfort, and new beginnings. I am proud to be on its board even though it means learning things about your community and humanity that you find personally challenging. Volunteering for and supporting DAIS is very rewarding, because they are making a difference and changing lives of victims and future generations.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through interactions with the dedicated, hardworking, and engaged staff and board, I have come to know and appreciate the significant need in our community for DAIS, as well, as the incredible positive impact that DAIS has on victims of domestic violence.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to provide them the resources they need to better serve victims, and the community. DAIS does so much with so little, yet, there are still too many victims that cannot be served because of a lack of space and funding. This needs to change!

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Learning how much other people, including the staff of DAIS, care about those in our community that are in need of assistance.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

simply incredible. I don't know how they work with people, in life or death situations, under so much stress, day after day.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Have a facility that would meet the needs of the community rather than turning away victims (parents and children) on a regular basis because they don't have the room to house them. Too often this means staying with the abuser.

Ways to make it better...

I had a million dollars to share with them!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding, and community awareness. Too few people in the community know about them, the huge demand for their services and the great things that they are doing.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Domestic abuse impacts the individuals and the community in so, so many ways. This is a community issue and it will take community support to appropriately address it.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
