Review for Bit-By-Bit Medical Therapeutic Riding Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA
Bit-By-Bit Therapeutic Riding Center has helped hundreds of special needs children and adults in south Florida...like mine! What a huge boon for our local community that these amazing therapists and instructors have created 3 barns in Broward County where families with special needs can go to get medical treatment, have fun with the horses, and enjoy beautiful Florida nature. The staff of Bit By Bit are amazing!!! Sue is an amazing physical therapist and I am glad to see all the training the Bit By Bit puts into their staff and horses. The Pompano Sand N Spurs barn is gorgeous and we love the breeze from the beach. I would say if you have a child with a disability that Bit-by-Bit should be your FIRST CHOICE for therapy. I am also excited that they have begun to offer speech therapy also in addition to PT and OT. My daughter has progressed sooo much in the past few months because of them, that our doctor can hardly belive it! Our daughter is in love with Gypsy the horse. What a pretty girl! I am going to start taking lessons also with BBB so that I can learn to ride with my child. Hopefully one day I can buy my daughter a horse of her own!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The beautiful horses we get to ride. I am so amazed that the Bit-by-Bit horses are so beautiful, kind, and patient. My daughter was so afraid of dogs and cats before we started hippotherapy. Now she is confident and playful with our dog.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
very smart. The therapists there were so specialized. Everyone knew everything about each horse and how to use them to get my daughter to ride her best.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Put in a COVERED ARENA!!! It gets so hot in the Florida sun but my daughter goes on trail rides each session and she gets to see some cool wildlife and loves going all around on her horse.
Ways to make it better...
we could go to ride the therapy horses 7 days a week
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Not getting too big. It is very hard to schedule a make-up because they are so busy.
One thing I'd also say is that...
The people who work for Bit By Bit have to be so caring and patient. it is alot of work physically to walk next to a horse everyday and to help their riders sit up tall and do things like ride backwards, get on all fours, or even trot on their horses.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every week
