SAFETY AGRICULTURAL VILLAGES AND ENVIRONMENT S A V E INC
April 28, 2010

A great organization that achieves local goals and inspiration for global efforts. They have demonstrated an ability to make wishes realities and an effective out reach so that the general public understands that, in addition to their initial plan to keep Route 41 from unecessary expansion, they will assist any community effort that falls within the guidelines of their mission and their name. They really are all about safety, agriculture, villages and the environment.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the creation of traffic calming near our local schools that neither inhibited the efficient flow of A LOT of traffic nor created additional congestion or danger.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand the physical location, hire an assistant for the Executive Director and interface more effectively with the local high school.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The capability and enthusiasm of the Executive Director and the visible, tangible results of the group's efforts.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Intelligent, educated, dedicated and capable.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Teach other towns in PA and other states how to decrease traffic congestion and sprawl by the simple utilization of roundabouts.

Ways to make it better...

the organization had greater financial resources; in particular, their Executive Director is in need of greater support. The entire board has much to offer that could be better realized if there was more funding.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Complacency in the community and finances in light of the ever increasing shortage of disposable income in our country.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This is a great group and I believe it all started at someone's kitchen table with a simple refusal to just roll over when development and sprawl threatened conservation and agricultural space.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

MY ROLE:
Board Member & I help with corporate housekeeping, occasional legal assistance and administrative support to the executive director.
