Review for Camp Odayin, Stillwater, MN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Our daughter has been a Camp Odayin girl for the past 8 years. Camp Odayin has allowed her to have fun in the outdoors and be away from home in a safe and fun environment. Our daughter has made some very close friends at camp and when they see each other it is squeals and giggles all around. Honestly, Camp Odayin is the highlight of each summer! As parents, we can't ask for a safer or more fun camp experience for our heart child. On the first day of camp, it is a joy to say "goodbye" because we know that she will come home with many stories to tell of a really fabulous week. When the camp says "no worries", they mean it. There is nothing to worry about- only tales of your child's adventure to look forward to. If you're on the fence about sending your heart child to Camp Odayin, get brave and allow them to discover some independence at Camp Odayin! You'll be so glad you did- and so will they!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

giving my daughter the chance to go to camp. If Camp Odayin didn't exist, she would have never been able to go to camp because of the consequences of her heart condition.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all fully trained and very nice.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

enable every heart kid on the planet to have a really great time in the woods at least once in their lives.

Ways to make it better...

the camp duration was twice as long! Our daughter comes home and complains that camp was too short and that she wants to be there for two full weeks! Maybe two weeks wouldn't be long enough either! She always has a such a great time! :)

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

growing pains and money. I know that the staff at Camp Odayin works very hard at securing enough money to allow every child to go to camp. However, as word is spreading, more and more kids want to come to camp and the camps are getting full! Combine this with a downturn in the economy, and a challenge is born.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Camp Odayin is an incredible camp that gives the gift of am honest to goodness camp experience to kids who otherwise would never know how wonderful a morning dunk in the lake, or a horseback ride through the woods can be.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
