Hawkwatch International, Inc.
April 15, 2010
HawkWatch was wonderful to work with. They provided patient, in-depth training for their methods of bird banding and data collection and then were appreciative of my efforts. I spent 2 months on the mountain at the Goshutes banding site in the 1994 season.
After that I received more training in bird handling and identification and then led several field trips for bird watching.
HawkWatch provides a careful and thorough collection of data on raptor migration and population health, and shares it with professionals.
Raptors provide a uniquely enticing opportunity to introduce people to the wonder of nature and the need to care for it. HawkWatch does a marvelous job of involving the general public in the conservation of natural resources in general and raptors in particular.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
learning about the wonder of the natural world and the unique way that birds of prey introduce people to it.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
working with friendly people who appreciate the contribution I make.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
friendly, patient, and helpful.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
find answers sooner to questions about human effects on the environment. This would help us make better decisions about our stewardship of the earth.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About once a year
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
Former volunteer & I trapped and banded birds of prey at a remote wilderness site in Nevada.
