Review for Feathered Friends Forever Refuge/Rescue Inc., Harlem, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Over the past 7 years I've watched the flock nearly double in size as more and more parrot owners faced various problems and had to place their feathered companion at the Rescue. Each one is treated with the same caring and love, regardless of size or circumstance.

Watching the happiness when a parrot picks a new adoptive family makes the day for all the volunteers. It's even better when the family sends an email or comes back to visit and tells everyone how much they enjoy their new companion.

The most rewarding part is working with some of the severly abused or disfunctional birds and having that breakthrough moment when trust is finally established. Here's an example:

What a great place! Hundreds of wonderful parrots, some who greet you when you arrive. The "tour guide" knew many of the birds by name. Everybody looked happy and healthy. The fact that they can "be birds" in large outdoor aviaries was very impressive.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting all the people and parrots

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all very friendly and knowledgeable - and not one of them gets paid! Everybody there is a volunteer!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make an even better life for their feathered friends.

Ways to make it better...

the TV station was filming it.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finding funding and more volunteers. Parrots require daily care and they need more support.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Send them a donation!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

One time

Role:  Donor & Took a tour with one of their volunteers, got to help feed some of the birds and left a donation.
