Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation
April 3, 2010
EPCAMR presented a program for our youth group on the effects of anthracite mining in Northeastern Pennsylvania, including mine drainage. The program concluded with a discussion on how the iron oxide can be adapted to modern uses, such as deck stain, etc. The kids then made chalk, which they really enjoyed. It was such a unique experience, we invited EPCAMR back to our school to do a presentation for our Environmental Education Club this year!

leaving a positive impression on local youth as to the impact of our industrial history has on future generations along with how one-by-one we can reverse the negative impact of acid mine drainage.
