My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Vets4Vets, Tucson, AZ, USA
My Name is Joe and I am a combat veteran of two Wars Opeartion Desert Storm and Opearation Iraqi Freedom. I first heard about Vets4vets in 2008 upon enrolling in the VA Medical Center right after my discharge from the military. At first I was skeptical about what I read and heard about this program that offered workshop retreats across the country to combat veterans at no cost. Vets4Vets gave me an opportunity to talk to other veterans like myself, by taking equal and uninterrupted turns listening and speaking. This experience has most differently increase my ability to self manage my life as I do suffer from the unhidden wounds of this war. Thank you to all whom serve to support organization such as this. What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I the social network of my peers that are like myself finding resilency and hope to a better quality of life.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Very professional, cordial and willing to helps veterans above and beyond the expectation.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Provide more outreach services to more communities nationalwide to include hiring more staff members to meet the needs and concerns of our current veteran population in a partnership with other helping agencies that support veteran's needs.
Ways to make it better...
I could be more involed in reaching other veterans that seem to find it difficult to access the VA or Vets Centers in remote locals. Trying to manage school, work and a family does not allow me position to give more to this program.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The fact this country is in a financical hardship and donations and resources have become scarce.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Vets4Vets is a real world organization that is trying to assist our veterans that have "realtime" issues through the peer counseling methods.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
