My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for St Joseph Apache Mission Restoration Project, Mescalero, NM, USA
I am one of the current Directors of this project that is working hard to restoration this important historic church and Veterans' Memorial. This is a grand building that has a big impact on all who visit from around the world. Our Mission statement says it all we are "Restoring the Building and Rebuilding Lives". Structured as an on-the-job training program we are giving young adults a second chance to live a life of sobriety and gain valuable job skills.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being involved with such a great group of people, from staff to the many volunteers and trainees. Plus the satisfaction that I ma making a difference while doing what I love to do.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
and are so committed to see this building totally restored for future generations to enjoy.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Not only finish in record time and give many more young adults job skill training in historic building preservation, but we could establish a foundation to get other similar projects started.
Ways to make it better...
I didn't have to spent so much of my time searching for and obtaining funding to keep the project moving forward.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
funding! We have proved over the past 10 years that we have the skills needed to be successful, and though we have also been successful in our fund raising efforts, it is difficult in these economic times.
One thing I'd also say is that...
the quote from Colin Powell has been inspirational for me "A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work". I have learned that perseverance and respect for others is important for success.
