Florida Association of Public Health Nurses, Inc.

Florida Assoc. of Public Health Nurses (FAPHN) is funded solely by its members. Members are professional public health nurses, educators, nutrtionists, student nurses with focus in public health and associate members of the healthcare community supporting FAPHN's mission and vision. Since its' beginning December 2002, FAPHN has distributed 9 scholarships to individuals studying for their Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and to 5 working towards their advanced degree in nursing. This is a total of $8,000. FAPHN helps public health nurses with initiatives in providing services to their communities and in 6 years has paid $22,000 toward 20 projects. FAPHN is an organization worthy of your support. Without public health where would our communities be? For the record, all officers are volunteers. FAPHN does not have any paid staff.

I have not been a recipient of a scholarship or community project mentioned above. I have received wonderful comments from those who benefited from FAPHN's financial planning.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

and am seeking continued financial strength so FAPHN can continue its mission and vision improving education and professionalism of public health nurses . Their communities benefit from the BEST!

I represent the Florida Association of Public Health Nurses, Inc.(FAPHN) We became involved with Just Give/GuideStar a year ago. We received recently our 1st donation through this program. Very efficient. Easy to use for donor and easy for FAPHN to receive. We appreciate having this program on board with FAPHN. Thank you so very much! Amalia KAne-Crawford, FAPHN Treasurer

Have not met any staff with JustGive/GuideStar however FAPHN has nearly 400 members dedicated to public health and the entire Board is voluntary. We are not large enough financially to have paid employees.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

We could really get out into the public and provide so much training and education on how to keep the public, the communities healhier and safer. We wish to become more involved nationally also.

Ways to make it better...

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

We are 8 years in existence. Our biggest challenge is continuing to provide education/training programs to public health nurses and other employees in the public health arena as state budgets are cut.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I just hope others will use Just Give/ GuideStar to help organizations like FAPHN, too!
