EASTERN SHORE CHORAL SOCIETY INC

This is a great organization of talented individuals who volunteer their time and talents and work hard striving for absolute perfection in their concerts from the simplest to the most difficult music. They performed at Carnegie Hall in 2007 and 2009 with their director, Terry Maddox. In addition to performing two concerts per year, and a free “Messiah” concert, members volunteer and perform mini-concerts, at no charge, throughout the year at such functions as the Fairhope Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, book signings and at various events in and around Baldwin County. All donations received at the “Messiah” concert” go to support of the Edna Traccarella Scholarship Fund which began in 1996 and continues today. The organization’s Edna Traccarella Scholarship Fund supports a competition for high school students with awards of $300, $400 and $500 to assist students in furthering their vocal studies. ESCS also makes monetary contributions of $250-$500 each to several local high school’s music programs each year.

This is a friendly organization and all get along well. There are end-of-the- semester socials and potluck dinners to start the new year. The director, Terry Maddox, drives the singers hard for perfection in music, yet instills some humor so it is fun.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a concert hall in this community where the choir could rehearse and hold concerts. (They rely on local churches) Purchase good sound equipment and more music. Hire full orchestra for the concerts.

Ways to make it better...

If we had more funds to hire more musicians to accompany the choir in their concerts.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
