My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, Philadelphia, PA, USA
My children participated in summer camp and attended weekend arts and music education programs for several years. I found Al-Bustan by searching on the internet for camps that teach about Arab culture and language in an interesting and fun way, and I was hooked from the start. The teachers and staff have always been first-rate professional artists and educators, and the quality of the art and music created is exceptional. There is no other organization like this in the U.S.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the joy that youth and adults alike experience when participating in Al-Bustan's programs. Music and art transcend cultural, socioeconomic and language barriers and bring people together.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
passionate about providing a first-rate experience to participants in the organization's programs. The quality of the summer camp surpasses anything I've seen in the other summer camps my children have attended over the years.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
expand the amount and breadth of its programming, replicate its model in other cities, and support Arab-American and Arab teaching artists by providing them with greater opportunities for sharing their talents.
Ways to make it better...
we had more space, more funding, and more staff.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
lack of secure, long-term funding that would allow the organization to hire more staff and obtain its own office space.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Al-Bustan consistently receives high praise from institutional funders for the quality of its organizational functioning and development.
