Greensboro Opera Company
February 26, 2010
I had previously attended touring opera productions of questionable quality, so I didn't know what to expect from the new Greensboro Opera. However, from the first downbeat of 'La Traviata', starring the as yet not well known June Anderson, I was hooked. Productions have exceeded increasing expectations, and the 'Opera at the Carolina' (theater) program, for 5th grade students, has been making opera fun for many years. The new defunct summer opera camp for middle school age children was also very successful.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
having the opportunity to meet so many interesting people, from conductors and stage directors to make up personnel, from singers to supers. The company's volunteers have been remarkable people, dedicated to bringing this incredible art form to Greensboro
