My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for ART ON THE SQUARE FOUNDATION INC, Belleville, IL, USA
Without a doubt Art on the Square is the premiere event in Belleville, IL. Not only does the fine arts fair provide free of charge access to major artists and their work it also focuses on the education of the fairgoers...including children of all ages. By creating the Artists in Residence program, school children ranging from elementary school thru high school are given the opportunity to experience in the classroom the craft of individual artists who generously give of their time. This is only one of the very positive results created by Art on the Square.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
My sense of being a contributor although small to a very successful community event. Also experiencing the energy and committment by all of the volunteers to create this wonderful event.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Volunteers from all walks of life who show an amazing about of talent and enthusiasm for Art on the Square. Most of them hav been with the show since its firt event in 2002,
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
provide more opportunities for education and appreciation of the fine arts by expanding art education in the schools and creating a museum to house major works of art that would be available to the general public. (We'd be happy with five million bucks!!
Ways to make it better...
In my experience Art on the Square only gets better...not by changing something wrong but by adding to the already successful production of the fair with innovative ideas to further the appreciation and availability of the fine arts.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Financial. During this downtime of our economy, raising the funds to produce Art on the Fair has been difficult. I'm ure all non-profits are experiencing this same challenge.
One thing I'd also say is that...
For me, the fine arts event is the best thing that has ever happened to our community. A life-long resident of the city, I take great pride in telling people I am from Belleville, IL, the home of Art on the Square.
