Review for The Nature Generation, Arlington, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have written books that won the Green Earth Book Award in 2007 and a Green Earth Book Award Honor in 2009. In addition to meeting with several school groups and participating in the Salisbury University Children's Literature Festival, I have participated in two panels of GEBA winners at major reading conferences. All these activities, expertly organized by the Newton Marasco Foundation, have brought exposure to my books as well as to NMF's important work. Children are spending less and less time in the natural world today. How can we expect them to preserve and protect it as adults if they don't grow to love it and respect it as children? Thank goodness there are organizations like the Newton Marasco Foundation who are finding fun, creative ways to show children (and adults) the importance of environmental stewardship.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their dedication and professionalism. they are very open minded to new ideas and always looking for innovative ways to fulfill their mission. Their program also gave me the rare opportunity to meet other authors with the same interests as mine.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional, hard working, deeply committed to the organization's work

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

offer more programs to individual schools and communities across the country and around the world

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Professional with expertise in this field & Participated in Green Earth Book Award events.
