Church of Mary Magdalene
December 17, 2009
I have been involved as a volunteer with the Church of Mary Magdalene for more than fifteen years. With other women I have helped prepare meals, collected needed hygiene items, even cleaned the kitchen and bathroom when the group met at First United Methodist Church in Seattle. I have attend the Annual Teas with a group from my church and purchased and helped sell the "cover girl" calendar which was produced some years ago. I have been greatly touched by the women's stories during their Saturday worship services. This program is consistently making a difference in the lives of women and children in need and those of us who have the opportunity to serve them.
I have seen some of the women move into transitional housing and get permanent jobs while continuing to grow spiritually in the group. The pastoral care at the Church of Mary Magdalene has always been extremely supportive and life changing.
Currently there is a need for a clean permanent home on the "free bus route" in Seattle. This program must receive the necessary support to continue their fine work.
