My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Nazareth Housing, Inc., New York, NY, USA
I team-lead the Read to Me project at Nazareth Housing. Volunteers from New York Cares show up each month to take the children to the public library. Afterward, we return to the shelter for crafts and more reading. I've worked with them for more than five years and they are wonderful, caring people who do so much with every resource available to them.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the feeling that we are making a difference, one kid at a time.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
hard-working, caring, and tough when necessary.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring so many in from the cold and help them to find the way toward self-sufficiency.
Ways to make it better...
some of the case workers had stayed on rather than move on to other things. I think this is because of limited funding and the agency not being able to pay well enough. They do what they can, but I've seen some great people move on and that's sad.
