I have been involved with Pratham since 2003. I was introduced to this org by Yogi Patel who had just asked me to come help stuff envelopes one week and I've been dedicated to Pratham ever since. I had a wonderful opportunity to visit several Pratham schools/balwadis in India as well as see the effects of the Mobile Library and the main office of Pratham in Mumbai. The visit to these schools showed the progress Pratham has made in these poverty stricken areas. I also had an opportunity to attend the Pratham Tri-State Gala in 2005 to assist in whichever way possible. I currently volunteer with Pratham and also am the volunteer coordinator for close to 6 years for the Annual Pratham Houston Galas. I have a team of dedicated and hardworking volunteers who go to the extremes to make sure everything is perfect for each event and are still able to enjoy the galas. I try to speak about Pratham to other people who have not been exposed to this wonderful organization both in the US and in India and hope to continue spreading the word that "Imagine an India Where Every Child Can Read"
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the experience of being able to help children read and write, things we used to take for granted.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
just a group of amazing people. I've seen these volunteers put their heart into everything, whether it be collecting pledges to tying chair covers. The Pratham office has a wonderful and dedicated staff that make sure everything is running smoothly
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
change millions of lives
