My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for GREY2K USA, Arlington, MA, USA
The following statement is taken directly from this 501c4 non-profit's web site; "100% of donations support our mission to end dog racing." Apparently we have a very different viewpoint regarding what "100% of donations" means. According to their 2012 IRS filings, over 44% of their total revenue was paid in salaries, other compensation and employee benefits. More than 21% of their total revenue was paid directly to Christine A. Dorchak, President, and Carey M. Thiel, Executive Director. However, their web page regarding their 2012 finances clearly states "79% of all 2012 expenditures were used directly for programs including legislative advocacy, ballot initiatives, legal research, and public education about the cruelty and killing of greyhound racing." I don't find that to be very trustworthy and will instead support true charitable organizations.
Addressing the responses of Carey2 below, the facts I presented are just that, facts. Your assertion that my "claims" are somehow incorrect is absolutely false. The numbers presented are 100% accurate according to your own web site information and IRS filings. If you choose to now refer to Christine A. Dorchak, President, and Carey M. Thiel, Executive Director, as "our full-time staff of advocates" in order to continue the subterfuge your organization practices then so be it. I will recognize your decision to "clarify" your web site as an admission of your attempts to mislead potential donors.
Furthermore, in your zeal to somehow discredit my factual information about your organization, the comment you posted about me is wholly inaccurate. I do not own an active racing greyhound and I have never owned an active racing greyhound. As a matter of fact, I have never attended a greyhound race. I do, however, devote a great deal of my time actively working within the greyhound adoption community to ensure the former racers continue to receive the love and care from adoptive families that they were accustomed to receiving during their racing careers.
