My mother attended AFDC for about a year, before she was placed in Assisted Living/Nursing home. AFDC always had activities and events for the attendees - my mother especially loved the music and singing. My family knew that mom was not only safe at AFDC but that she was experiencing a higher quality of life than she would be if she'd stayed at home during the day. Many times I would pop in to say hello and see mom, which they encouraged, especially if you brought a child or pet with you, which the attendees love. The staff are exceptional - so patient and kind, and treat our loved ones with respect and dignity; they're really saints. Even though mom has passed, I still attend the support group every other Wednesday - I look forward to seeing the other caretakers and laughing and crying together.
