AAUW
September 23, 2013

I have been an AAUW member 5 years - have helped raise $ 30,000 to support AAUW Funds and our local Sonoma State University Scholarships for women. I have met wonderful women, learned about the community I live in, and visited places I missed over the past 40 years. We collaborate with others on mission related projects - such as League of women voters to register voters and host non partisan candidate forums. we send 5 middle schools girls to a week of summer camp on STEM - science, Technology, engineering and math - to expose them to careers and education in these fields at Stanford university- raising $ 2500 for their tuition. Our local Chair is also Co- Director for camps in northern California. As two minute activists, we receive information on legislation affecting women and girls, and can respond to our legislators- this has helped me be well informed and to give my input easily.
we are women of integrity, passion, compassion, educating ourselves and others and striving to make this world a better place. joining this effort with thousands of women through out the USA makes me proud to be a member of the American Association of University Women.
