WFAS is an amazing place that provides love and sanctuary for for animals that have seen the worst that humanity has to offer. The dedicated and compassionate staff provide not only top level care but affection and an environment that the rescued animals can truly be the individuals that they are. My wife and I found out about WFAS shortly after becoming vegan and we were so thrilled that there was a place where we could be involved in animal activism in such a direct and hands on way. After taking a very informative tour with Doug, one of the founders, we dove right into volunteer work. At home I hate to even mow our very tiny lawn but here I'm happy to do all kinds of "chores" all day long and I get bummed when it's time to go. Ive found that its not just a sanctuary for the animals but for people as well. Sometimes it's tough being vegan in a non-vegan world when you know what really happens to the animals to become food but WFAS is like a safe retreat that's truly making the world a better place for the animals, the people and the planet. If you're anywhere near NY I'd highly recommend a day trip or an overnight stay in the bed and breakfast that's on the property and if you're out of the area please consider donating to this great place.
