I attended NCYLS in 2010 and I have to say I didn't realize the immediate effects that it had on me. At first I didn't understand why I was chosen for this event. I felt that I already leadership quality, but of course a leader has never fully developed there is always room to grow which is one of the key things I learned. Nearly three years since that weekend I have recently reflected a lot of how much this event actually changed my life. NCYLS helped me to become more of myself again. Through Junior High and even in the beginning of high school I along with others tend to change who they really are, fitting in becomes far more important than anything else. Although I've always strived to be myself I can look back and see that I did change, and that NCYLS did help me change for the better. To once again be who I truly was and follow the passions I had. NCYLS isn't about learning to become a leader, we were all already leaders. It was simply learning to grow, and be yourself in front of anyone...even a stranger you met just a few hours ago. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss
