James River Writers
March 30, 2013

I am an author with a recently published debut book. I was looking for an organization to help me in networking with fellow authors and writers in general, as I am fairly new to the Richmond, Va area and don't know many people. I was told about James River Writers from someone at a recent book signing I had. I checked out their website and thought they might be just what I was looking for.

I have attended two of their events so far and I have to say that I am totally impressed. This group is not only friendly, but they are more than willing to offer you any help that you may need to persue and promote your writing.

I recently attended their monthly "Writing Show" where they had a panel of five published authors give a group discussion on how to write violence into your story in a way that will keep a reader's attention and turn page after page without getting disgusted by the details of violence and end up putting your book down.

JRW has many events scheduled that I plan to attend. If the comradery in the future is anything like what I have experienced thus far, I will be more than glad that I joined their organization. Their dedication to promoting the written word is outstanding in my book.

I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend James River Writers to any aspiring or seasoned writer. I can see nothing but good coming from my membership with this group.
