Chula Vista sits just south of San Diego and only miles from the US/Mexico border. For many residents, it's unconscionable that less than an hour's drive to the south, impoverished children and adults suffer and die because they lack the most basic necessities. How can frostbite and malnutrition exist within arm's reach of one of the fastest-growing cities in California? Locals Judd and Debra Wheeler and their great team of volunteers at Hilarious Givers are tackling this issue head-on. They do amazing work, collecting everything from mattresses and clothes to food and appliances and distributing them to the neediest they can find -- all on a shoestring budget. My family and friends are proud to support Hilarious Givers and couldn't endorse them more strongly for support from others.
