Review for VILLAGE TREASURE HOUSE, Glenview, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Village Treasure House is a non-profit consignment store in the Glenview/Northbrook area. It is almost entirely volunteer staffed, and all proceeds go to agencies in the area serving women and children in crisis. In the past twelve years, they have given away over a million dollars! They accept donations, or if interested in selling items on consignment, items are accepted from 10-2 Wed. through Sat. (Call for furniture previews). Items for sale in the shop include furniture, rugs, dishes and serving items, lamps, decorative items, pictures (no clothing or jewelry). A wonderful place to work and shop! Their website is www.villagetreasurehouse.org.

Review for Erika's Lighthouse: A Beacon of Hope for Adolescent Depression, Winnetka, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with ELH for the past 5-6 years and it's been amazing to watch the impact the organization has had on the communities in the Chicago suburbs. In a relatively short time Erika's Lighthouse has provided area schools with the tools with which to educate students, faculty and parents about the signs and symptoms of adolescent depression. The best part is that the students in the ELH clubs (at quite a few schools now, and growing!) are the ones sharing this information with their peers and opening up dialogue that wouldn't have taken place just a few years ago.
