My wife and I were two of the first AHEAD volunteers to Tanzania in 1988. Our experience of working with rural villagers in the areas of health, education, and agricultural development changed our lives. AHEAD's philosophy is to approach the villagers to find out what their needs are and to work cooperatively with them. It is truly a grassroots organization. Volunteers are welcome from every background; the only requirements are open hearts, open minds and a willingness to engage with the people of Africa. AHEAD is a small family with a big impact in a large continent. It's well worth your time, money and effort because the return is so great.
