What other organization could take in these beautiful creatures that have the same or longer lifespan of their owners. Many are abused when impulsive people buy them then realize how much love and time these creatures need. Some have lost their lifelong friend, their human, and live with relatives or new owners who abuse them. Quite a few were stolen from their families in their native lands and smuggled in horrific conditions watching many in their flock die en route to the USA where the insatiable greed of many break the laws to import these innocent fledglings. Many stories are horrible, sad, and sickening, but if any who have survived these conditions, and they are but a fraction and that end up at the Oasis Sanctuary, arrive at a wonderful, understanding, and finally permanent destination. Most bird "pets" have an average of 7 to 10 homes in their lifetime. A lot of times the final home is not a great end for them. The Oasis is one of the few wonderful exceptions.
