My young son and I got involved with our local Florida Trail chapter a few years ago. They love having children at their meetings, on hikes, and especially while doing trail work. This organization is so family friendly. There are so many opportunities for families and friends to get together and have fun exercising, and making the community better. As a single mother, they have embraced us like family. We have been on long road trips with them to the mountains. We have gone on long distance hikes with them. We get to see treasures all over Florida because of this group and their welcoming attitude. My son's favorite part is trail work! He feels safe and at home in the woods. He loves getting to use tools and helping out. He really learns a lot from the meetings, too! Being a part of FTA has given my son and I a great escape from the stresses of life, and loads of opportunities to connect with nature, good friends, and share God's awesome creation with others.
