I first met Cindy Wilber five years ago as a freshman in college. She opened my eyes to the world of philanthropy and non-profit service and shared with me her fervor for giving back to the world. Proyecto Itzaes embodies that passion for equity and works miracles for both the people of the Yucatan and those in the US who support it. I'm older and maybe a little wiser than I was when I first encountered Cindy's goodness, but I am no less astonished by all that PI is able to accomplish--I've now worked for bigger and better known non-profits and NGOs, and my experiences have only served to strengthen my admiration for Proyecto Itzaes. Here is one instance where donor money really goes to serve the people and never gets lost in bureaucracy or infrastructure--when Cindy says that PI is run from her kitchen table, she really means it! I know because I've sat at that very table and helped address letters...
