Trixi & Beaker are my feathered children. Both Scarlet Macaws, we as a family have been "snow-birding" between NY and FL for a number of years. They were troopers, suffering through the 21-23 hr drive not once, but twice yearly! They enjoy lots of outdoor time in FL and a little flight time here, but when we get to NY, they get a nice view, but no outdoor or flight time :( Beaker, the male in the pair, is a picker... basically, he's naked except for his tail, wing an head feathers. This year we found out about FEBS and decided our kids deserved summer camp! We went to the sanctuary, not 15 minutes from our FL home, and toured the facility and met Pat. INSTANTLY I knew my babies would have a GREAT SUMMER and I knew where they would be able to go should something arise that we could no longer care for them. WHAT RELIEF! I know there are MANY, MANY birds living among we humans that suffer a long, boring, if not worse, life. I believe Pat and the entire FEBS organization are doing a fabulous thing offering birds (and their humans) an opportunity to live a HAPPY and HEALTHY bird's life! Dana & Tom T.
