When we were called to become the pastor of an international church in the Middle East, we really struggled with what to do about our Panama Amazon parrot. We got him in Panama as a very young bird and brought him to the US with in 1994. He was a member of the family. As he got older, it had become a desire of ours that he live someplace where he could be cared for and that he would be able to just be a bird. After much research, we found that place in the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary. The staff was terrific and the move was made pretty easy. We were able to visit them once more before we left the country and found everything just as they promised it would be. We receive periodic updates that reaffirm us in the decision we made. The commitment of Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary matches ours for our bird. He is well taken care of, is adjusting well, and is just being a bird in his new family and community.
