NICHOLSON HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
August 23, 2013

Nicholson Heritage Association is based in Nicholson, PA, an almost untouched old-fashioned town in Northeast Pennsylvania. There is much heritage to preserve, and this group has chosen to preserve the old RR station. The Steamtown RR from Scranton, comes to Nicholson and travels over the Nicholson Bridge as a memorable trip for tourists and locals alike. At Christmas time, the RR train is lit up with colorful Christmas colors. Besides preserving the old Nicholson RR station, the group does have an annual Nicholson Bridge Day--this year it is September 8th--and celebrates the history of the area with local vendors and local music, a BBQ cookout, honoring the flag with colors in the morning, etc. This organization is a grassroots effort to keep alive the heritage we all see in books--but here we can see it in real life.

NICHOLSON HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
November 8, 2012

The Nicholson Heritage Association NHA) focuses on the local community of Nicholson and the heritage of this beautiful, local village which is struggling to remake itself in its Victorian roots. The Nicholson Bridge, also known as the Tunkhannock Viaduct, is a large part of the NHA's roots. Every year, Nicholson Borough and the NHA celebrates Nicholson Bridge Day, by organizing a group of volunteers. The historical celebration draws people from all over the area, keeping alive the history of the area. The NHA is very important to the area for having purchase the old Nicholson Railroad station, with plans to restore it. Presently they are working on fundraising for this project. It is essential that we all support these efforts so that the history of special areas, such as Nicholson, are kept alive for all generations to enjoy.
