Review for OnBehalf.org, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My fiance (now husband), Jessie, was injured in Afghanistan in Oct. 2011. We reached out to Onbehalf.org to see if they could be of assistance in getting his grandmother and 3 siblings to NC from upstate NY so they would be able to attend our wedding that took place in Nov. 2013. They provided a grant for their hotel stay for the weekend of the wedding, which was a huge help. We dealt directly with Mike, who is super nice and a great guy. Looking forward to working with them again. :)

Review for YELLOW RIBBON FUND INC, Bethesda, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The YRF is an awesome organization. My fiance is a severely disabled vet and we were at Walter Reed for 14 months. During that time we received a rental car for (3) 3 month terms to help get us around Bethesda - since the metro was too far for him to walk. Being able to leave base and do "normal" things, such as go out to eat or to the mall, was a blessing. The caregiver nights out were very uplifting and allowed us to share experiences and vent frustrations, if needed. I am one of the recipients of the Pillars of Strength scholarship and am so grateful to be offered this opportunity. I've also been on one caregiver retreats to Gettysburg, which is something I'll never forget. I can say first hand that any and all donations are used wisely by the staff and volunteers. :)

Review for Luke's Wings, Inc., Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My fiance Jessie is a double amputee, above the knee. He was injured in Afghanistan Oct. 17, 2011. Jessie and I first heard about Luke's Wings through their No Soldier Spends Christmas Alone campaign 2011 and got our first flight through them with this program. We definitely did not spend Christmas alone that year and were able to fly home to spend it with family and friends instead of in a hospital room. Since then, the organization has flown us several times, including a surprise visit to Jessie's 9 year old brother for his birthday who had not seen Jessie since before he was deployed to Afghanistan. We're very grateful for what they do, not only for us, but for the many other families that have been impacted by their flights and also their friendship. Jessie and I are so proud to be a part of the Luke's Wings Family!! I recommend Luke's Wings to all the new families at the hospital that I can.
