My wife and I have now made two volonteer trips to support Proyecto Itzaes in Yucatan. On the 1st trip, we did a lot of painting, wiring, etc., on a residence-school conversion in the village of Izil. It was particularly satisfying to see that same facility in full operation during our second trip. PI strives to provide facilities and materials for educating young children who might otherwise go unschooled, and it's clear to us that, to the extent that it gets the financial support it needs, it is fulfilling that mission very well in the rural villages around Merida. Our 2nd trip wsa a bit shorter, but we were still able to get a new classroom painted inside and out, and we're sure that room will be well used.
