The Good People Fund
October 18, 2009
I have known Naomi Eisenberger, the director and founder of The Good People Fund, for many years, and was aware of the amazing work she does. During December 2008, The Good People Fund connected me with a family in New Jersey who was looking to donate money to help students in New Orleans. The connection through the Good People Fund allowed me to use the donated money to aid my 17 low-income 4th grade students. I was able to purchase books as presents for my students to take home, Wal-Mart gift cards to help their families purchase groceries, medication, and other essentials during the holiday season, and also to buy essential learning supplies for my classroom that I otherwise would not have had the money to purchase. The students and their families benefited from the donation. One student said "Now my mom will be able to buy us Christmas gifts" when she received the gift card. Families who otherwise live on food stamps were able to buy some extra food for the holidays. It was very meaningful for everyone involved, and the Good People Fund made it happen for my students.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my classroom in New Orleans and as a past volunteer.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The personable nature of the staff and director. The accountability and reliability of this organization. The unique ideas of this organization.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
warm and caring yet down to business when needed.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Help all of those people who are forgotten by larger organizations, including the people living in poverty in America that are not seen on the news.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About once a year
