My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for People for Cats, East Falmouth, MA, USA
I have been volunteering at PFC's for about 2 1/2 years - I have found this to be very rewarding - I love being around the cats - each and every one is unique in his/her own way - I have also met so many wonderful people through PFC's - especially Doreen , Lynn, Carol, Joan, and Jean .... I have witnessed first hand the loving care that PFC's provides not only to the cats... but too each other.... great group of folks there at the HILTON.... and I am proud to be a part of the team... When I had a stray cat hanging around my house I contacted PFC's - they were so helpful - loaning me a trap and showing me how to trap the cat - I named him SMOKEY as he was a dusty gray color - he adjusted well to the shelter and it wasn't too long before he got adopted and found his forever home....
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Seeing how they helped me 'rescue' Smokey from the outside environment - they tended to all of his medical needs and placed him in a good home.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Hold meetings that welcome's volunteer's to attend - more communication between volunteers and the leaders... Let volunteer's be more involved in decision making.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Yes, I learned a lot about the personalities of cats - it also taught me to watch for different "changes" in cats and point out things when I felt the cat was not acting in his/her usual manner... I met many new people during my time as a volunteer.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
THAT I WAS NOT ONLY HELPING PFC's - BUT ALSO MYSELF - BY GETTING OUT ANd DOING SOMETHING PRODUcTIVE - I ENJOY BEING AT THE SHELTER.
