I have been involved with Desire Ministries as a supporter/volunteer since 2009, and accepted a position on the Board of Directors in 2011. Desire's horse program has grown by leaps and bounds in the past year through Kristy Alvarez's hard work and dedication to making the organization better every day. Although she already understood horses through her years of expereince with them and her Certified Horsemanship Association instructor certification, Kristy knew she wanted to do more to help people connect with horses. She earned her Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) certification to help people with horses and is very involved with Parelli training systems to help herself, and others, understand more about helping horses. She has written plans for her organization and has proven her ideas by earning a few small grants to help expand some of her ideas. I'd like to note that this is an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization - no one is paid - and all overhead is paid through donations. I have first hand seen the horses Desire Ministries has helped, the wonderful partnerships Desire Ministries has made with other organizations in the community, and the people Desire Ministires has helped through this unique program of rescuing horses and helping people. Desire Ministries is most deserving o 2012 Top-Rated Awards recognition.
