SPLC's Teaching Tolerance program is working to foster school environments that are inclusive and nurturing – classrooms where equality and justice are not just taught, but lived. The program points to the future, helping teachers prepare a new generation to live in a diverse world. Adult bigots and their offspring have bullied children for years. My child, very Christian and loving, has been bullied and we seek education for all to end ignorance and hatred. We are saddened by the pervasive oppression, ingnorance and injustice we see in our world, thus we give when we can, as led by Christ's love to do so.

Hate groups sadden me: The Sikh temple massacre, racial and homophobic oppression, anti-muslim, and anti-Christian groups are hateful. Jesus Christ does not condone hate - but too often I see so-called Christians spewing unholy hate, basing their odd behavior on Old Testament thoughts that have long been proven false. Our only hope is education and prayer. Bless you SPLC.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

My child has been bullied and ostracized. He has a choice: He could succumb to others' victimization which would hurt his self-esteem and could easily become a bully himself out of righteous indignation at ugly taunts. OR He could act Christlike and loving, overpowering evil with good. I prefer the latter. The right-wing-"falsely-Christian" pharisaical heretics need to understand the NEW testament, the gospel, the GOOD news. SPLC does and brings it to our schools. As far as I can see, whether they claim it or not, the SPLC people preach the gospel in words and deeds.

Rating: 1 stars

This is a hate group and shouldn't call itself a Christian organization given that Jesus' mandate was to love and serve the oppressed. This group uses funds to lobby our government representatives which is far from Christ's commandments to Love God (submiting to his authority) and Love our neighbor as ourselves. Sadly, these Pharisees only promote archaic Old Testament thoughts. Pridefully, they cannot see the love and commitment of LGBT unions. I will pray for them, that Jesus Christ can warm their hearts and enable their minds to rationally consider that these "rules" to which they ascribe are false in the same way that eating shellfish, working on the Sabbath, and similar Leviticus admonishons are false.

Review for World Vision International, Federal Way, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

World Vision continues to impress me. We sponsor children in Africa to help educate them, encourage and empower them in their lives. We donate to individuals who do marathons that are sponsored by World Vision as well since together, they raise funds to create provide water wells that will last forever to help those in Africa. This organization embodies Christ's calling to serve the poor, the oppressed and those in need of love and care.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

Lopez Lomong impressed me. Additionally, I've recognized that I should give more to authentic Christian missions instead of my wealthy suburban church that I attend since I now question their stewardship of precious financial resources. Further, I've seen a shift within some leaders in my church from Christlike behavior and doctrine to Pharisaical, judgmental, political worldviews. I'm sad that my church has been corrupted by sin (pride & greed) but will continue to serve this community with my spiritual gifts, especially now that I've witnessed significant failure to comply with Christ's mandates to love and serve God & our oppressed neighbors. I give great thanks that I can contribute meaningfully to Christ's mission through World Vision.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

His calling, my gratitude for his guidance and blessings.

What would you tell others about this organization?

Pete Sterns, son of World Vision's CEO, is a leader in our youth community. Additionally, Dave & Char Mahar, Mark & Randi Lundgren, and many others have been humble servant leaders for World Vision in my village. I learn much from them and am indebted.

Review for Breakthrough Urban Ministries, Inc., Chicago, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

BreakThrough serves the Homeless, the Youth, and the oppressed people of Chicago through basic human services, education, shelter, and love. This is authentic Christian Servant Leadership. I've stopped tithing to my church since they've stopped representing Jesus Christ insofar as I've witnessed and re-directed our tithe and offerings here and to other charities who have excellent ratings. My dollar has to go farther to support Christian ministries: Each penny counts at BreakThrough and they judiciously evaluate how best they can serve the urban poor, to encourage and empower them to live full, productive, healthy, happy lives. Christ lives here.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

I've been giving my meager financial donations to a wealthy suburban church where I live (as well as other 4-star-rated Christian charities like World Vision). My church has not been good stewards and recently, I've seen a shift from Christlike behavior and doctrine to pharisaical, judgmental, political worldviews. I'm not able to financially support my home-church if the Senior Pastor decides to turn His pulpit into his own pulpit. I'm sad that my church has been corrupted by sin and will continue to serve this community with my spiritual gifts. I give great thanks that I can contribute meaningfully to Christ's mission in other ways.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

His calling. There is such great need with our Urban Poor.

Meet Arloa & Mike. Give time and talent.

Role:  Donor & I've only donated money thus far. Most of my friends also donate their time and talents but I've yet to do that given limitations presently. .
