My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for The Lexiebean Foundation, Plainview, NY, USA
I am happy to write a review for the Lexiebean Foundation. My 3 1/2 year old son, Tanner, lost his battle with brain cancer in April 2011. During his relapse, July 2010, while we were sitting in the ICU, a basket arrived with our social worker that had blankets, pillows, gift cards for local takeout and a check that helped us pay our mortgage that month. You cannot imagine the relief a check like that brings parents, while they are sitting at their child's bedside, hoping he will live. One less burden to worry about. The focus can remain completely where it belongs - on our son. The basket brought him comfort and cheer, and a much needed relief from hospital cafeteria food. Since my son passed away, I have joined the lexiebean foundation as a board member, to help others in our situation... no one knows what it feels like to sit there and watch your child suffer like a mom who's been there. Providing comfort for other families is the best way I know how to keep Tanner's name alive, and to make any good come from the horrific situation we endured, and continue to endure, every day. The Lexiebean Foundation helps children and their families directly, in ways that are so very appreciated. Thankyou for your support for this amazing foundation. I cannot tell you how much it means to families and children battling pediatric cancer.
