Review for FIDELCO GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION, INC, Bloomfield, CT, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Having worked for this organization, as long as the current CEO and COO are in place, I strongly caution donors. Ask questions, and push for numbers about exactly how many pups have been whelped, raised, trained and placed each year. Employees at this nonprofit have been told year after year of underpayment and no raises that the organization can't afford to do better for them. Meanwhile, they have amassed more assets than ever. Senior management is very handsomely paid. The amount of turnover in key staff positions is incredible. During less than three years there, I saw two directors of communication and a VP of development come and go. I had never witnessed anything like the micromanagement they suffered under the current CEO and COO. Then I learned that there was a long and suspicious history of comings and goings in those key positions two years prior to my time there. The training staff at Fidelco is the best group of talented people. Very sorry that they are not better compensated for all their hard work. Unless they want to relocate, there are not a lot of alternatives for guide dog trainers. Very sad story about what used to be an incredibly highly respected and beloved family-run organization.

Review for FIDELCO GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION, INC, Bloomfield, CT, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Since joining the staff at the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation earlier this year, I have witnessed first-hand the remarkable life-changing work of this organization. The staff here is unwaveringly focused on the goal of producing the highest quality guide dog; from breeding to puppy raising to dog training to client placement, this organization is exactly what it claims to be and more. The heart of every member of Fidelco's staff is in their work. And it shows. We love what we do here, and we are very proud of the life-changing mobility and independence our dogs afford to blind men and women, from those blinded from birth or by disease, to those blinded during their service to our country. I am extremely proud to be a part of the great things happening here.
