Review for HAZON INC, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with Hazon for a few years now and have found to be a wonderful organization, consisting of a terrific community and promoting an important message. I have participated in Hazon's NY Jewish Environmental Bike Ride for the past two years, and a number of other local rides and events. These combinations of physical challenges, community building and meaningful dialogue have become important parts of my life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing! The attentiveness, kindness and graciousness of the staff are unmatched and comes through in all of their endeavors. Hazon also uses a broad volunteer base for many of their larger programs, bringing in an extra layer of talented individuals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

engage in large scale education and advocacy programming to bring its message to all relevant populations nationally and globally. History has shown that education on these issues leads to action, so there would be a very direct impact.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

Review for Tikvat Yisrael, Inc., New York, NY, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I became a regular attendee of Tikvat Yisrael events shortly after moving to NYC in 2005. I think the group's ability to bring together Jews from across the spectrum to a prayer-focused event is amazing and critically important to encouraging dialogue and partnership. Not all of the after-dinner programs are fully engaging, but TY does a good job of bringing in a variety of speakers to approach different topics from different perspectives.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

having a place and situation in which to interact with people outside of my "home base," since I might not do so otherwise. Some of the speakers have been terrific and very enjoyable.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated and hardworking. They are well-meaning and believe in TY's goals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make its events larger and (nearly) free. This would promote the goals by bringing more people together, encouraging greater dialogue and collaboration. TY could also use the money to hire a staff member who would alleviate burdens on the volunteers.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
