HAHS is partnered with two local shelters, one in Lee's Summit, MO and one in Ottawa, KS. They "pull" cats and dogs who, for no fault of their own, have ended up in the shelter. Many times the animals are family pets who were left behind due to moving, money, or allergy issues. The animals are fostered to determine their personalities, and the fosters use much of their own money. Fund raisers are held frequently to provide for spay/neuter costs, shots, and other medical needs. PetSmart in Overland Park, KS and Ward Parkway Mall, plus PetCo in Olathe, KS have donated space so the cats will be seen; there is also a website to view animals. I have volunteered for about 10 yrs.; I'm the Thursday "cleaning lady" at PetSmart in O.P. There is no way to add up all the hours the fosters have spent to transport animals to and from adoption events, plus having them in their homes. They are a great group of people!
