I saw a dog on their website about a year ago and called in to see if he was still available or if anyone had shown interest in him. I was told he was living with a foster family, that he was still available, and that I should definitely fill out an application for him. I immediately filled out the application and quickly received a reply. All that it said was that he had already been adopted. (This was about two afters after I was told to apply.) I wrote back (via email) expressing that I was a little disappointed because I felt pretty mislead considering CCHS told me he was still available and really encouraged me to apply for him only two hours prior. I then received ANOTHER reply. "Alicia" told me that I should be THRILLED that he was adopted. She said "Next time you write a 'cry baby email' you should consider that you are not the only person trying to adopt a dog. She then ENCOURAGED ME TO MEET WITH A BREEDER. Really??? You're working for the humane society? A shelter? And you're going to call me a cry baby and encourage me to go purchase a dog from a breeder rather than continuing my search to RESCUE an animal? Shame on you. Why are you even at the humane society? No class. You seem to be missing the point. This was an UNBELIEVABLE experience. It completely blew my mind. It's terrible that I have to feel the way I do about this organization considering it's only affecting the animals inside. I will never consider adopting from this shelter and I would steer others away from it as well. There are plenty of other shelters out there that would be HAPPY to do business with someone interested in RESCUING AN ANIMAL. That IS the point if I'm not mistaken?
